Rubber Alphabet
Playing around with cloth and the mental ray materials in 3D Studio Max.
Kind of a vinyl/rubber alphabet. Perhaps I should rename it the S&M Alphabet.
Anyway, here’s the image; click for full size.
If you’d like to download this alphabet, without the watermarks in a layered PSD file then you can !
If you have any suggestions or requests for alphabets, gimme a holler !!
The Marvellous Mechanical Mouse Organ
Based upon another illustration I did a ways back, I thought it would be nice to animate this in 3DS Max. It took a day to build, texture and animate but another full day to render it. I just wish I had the processing power to add caustics to the scene, but ho hum.
Oh. And if you think the mouse heart is far too big for the scene, that’s because all of this takes place in a shoe box. ![]()
3DS Max Cloth
Been recently playing around with the cloth features of 3DStudio Max to some varying effects.
I quite like this effect. It reminds me of when, in the movie The Thing, the guy’s head on the operating table stretches over the edge with the same visceral popping action.
Perhaps one day I might make use of this technique, but it seems fitting for Halloween week !

Robot Wallpaper 1920×1080, originally uploaded by Jamie Durrant.
Just completed a project for an up and coming magazine, Kill Screen. The design is based in part on Robot Lilliput, generally believed to be the first ever toy robot. More details to follow.
Full sized version is here.
Dawn of the Tentacle
So, for the past day or so, I’ve been working on something for Atomic Operations. Here’s a couple of little tentacled intros, made in 3DS Max.
